France’s acting sports minister, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, has sparked excitement with a cryptic hint that music legends Céline Dion and Lady Gaga may perform a duet at the Paris 2024 Olympic opening ceremony. French journalist Thierry Moreau, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), suggested that the duo will sing Édith Piaf’s iconic “La Vie en Rose.” TMZ has also reported on the rumored performance.
This anticipated performance would mark Céline Dion’s first since she canceled her North American Courage world tour dates due to her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder. Dion added to the speculation with an Instagram post from Paris on July 24, expressing her love for the city and thanking friends at The Louvre.
Lady Gaga has also been spotted in Paris, further fueling the rumors. On July 22, the pop star was photographed greeting fans and blowing kisses, just days after the Olympics teased a special guest for the opening ceremony. A video clip showed a hooded figure, believed to be Gaga, donning a metallic belt and cape with the Olympic logo, with the caption, “You haven’t seen anything yet. See you on 26 July.”
The Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony promises to be a grand spectacle, taking place along the River Seine and at the foot of the Eiffel Tower on July 26. If the rumors hold true, the duet between Dion and Gaga will undoubtedly be a highlight of the event, blending their powerful voices in a tribute to French musical heritage.
