Cardi B is pregnant with her third child! The “I Like It” rapper, 31, shared the exciting news on Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 1.
“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!” Cardi wrote, alongside photos of herself in a red dress, revealing her baby bump. “You’ve reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and cannot wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do!”
“It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns, and tests lying down, but you, your brother, and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!” she concluded her post.
This joyous announcement comes just a day after Cardi filed for divorce from her husband Offset, 32, ending their six-year marriage. A representative for the “Bodak Yellow” rapper confirmed the split, stating, “It’s not based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.”
Cardi is seeking primary custody of their children, son Wave Set, 2½, and daughter Kulture Kiari, 6. Offset is also father to sons Jordan, 14, and Kody, 8, and daughter Kalea Marie, 9, from previous relationships.
In December 2023, Cardi first revealed her single status during an Instagram Live, admitting she had been hesitant to make the announcement public. “I’ve been single for a minute now,” she said. “But I have been afraid … Not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been, like, a sign.”
She also hinted at the split by unfollowing Offset and posting cryptic messages on her story. Despite their separation, the two have been spotted together on several occasions, including New Year’s Eve, a Knicks game in May, and during the filming of her “Like What (Freestyle)” music video in March. In a May interview with Rolling Stone, Cardi mentioned they were “all right now,” emphasizing their deep friendship and mutual support.
Balancing motherhood and her music career, Cardi has been seeking a nanny while relying on her parents for help. “I had them kids,” she told Rolling Stone. “They came out of my p—-, not my mom’s. They mine.” She expressed feeling overwhelmed but stressed that her children come first.
Cardi B and Offset have had a tumultuous relationship since their marriage in September 2017, often marked by alleged infidelity. They previously announced a split in 2018, reconciled, and then Cardi filed for divorce again in September 2020, only to call it off later.
In a 2020 interview with ELLE, Cardi reflected on their relationship, saying, “I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything. But there’s a lot of love, there’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of trust, there’s a big friendship.”
Offset has also spoken about his appreciation for their blended family. In an April 2022 interview with Essence, he shared, “It’s a blessing to be able to have them all together, and to have a wife who’s open and treats them as if they’re her kids. It could be an issue, but I don’t have to go through that, and that’s beautiful.”
