Just a few weeks ago, the rumor came out that that Calvin Johnson was looking at the option of retiring from the NFL. Well, Adam Schefter has reported that he does in fact plan on retiring, but is doing Coach Jim Caldwell a favor by thinking it over these past few weeks.
The superstar receiver is not a lock for the Hall of Fame, but was the best receiver in the NFL from 2011-2013 and there’s no doubt about that. If last season was in fact his final one, he’ll end his career with 11,619 receiving yards (27th in the NFL overall), 731 receptions (43rd), and 84 total touchdowns (47th).
Nothing is officially confirmed, but it sure does sound like Calvin Johnson retiring is as close to a done deal as you can get.
