Caitlin Clark Makes WNBA History in Fever’s Narrow Loss to Dream

Caitlin Clark continued her electric start to the 2025 WNBA season on Tuesday night, notching a game-high 27 points and setting a new league record for most 25-point, 10-assist performances in history. But despite her heroics, the Indiana Fever fell just short in a 91-90 loss to the Atlanta Dream.

Clark’s late-game sharpshooting helped ignite a furious Fever comeback in the fourth quarter after trailing by 11. Aaliyah Boston added 24 points and 10 rebounds, giving Indiana a brief lead with under 22 seconds remaining. Yet, Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard calmly sank a free throw to reclaim the advantage, and Indiana’s last-second chances clanged away.

“It stings,” Clark said postgame, “but it’s a moment we can learn from. This kind of adversity builds us.”

The Dream were paced by Brittney Griner with 21 points and Brionna Jones, who dominated the paint with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Howard chipped in 20 points in the back-and-forth thriller.

Veteran Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell praised the fight but emphasized discipline: “Our lows were too low tonight.”

Indiana drops to 1-1 and will look for revenge in Thursday’s rematch in Atlanta. Clark and company may have lost the game—but they’re proving they’ll be a team to watch all season.
