Bryce Harper is Close to His Rehab Assignment

According to bleacherreport.com, the Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper is expected to begin his rehab assignment on Tuesday as originally reported by Fox Sports’ Tom Verducci. The Phillies are expecting his return sometime around September first to the everyday lineup. The team has been without their MVP since June 25th, when a Blake Snell pitch left him with a broken left thumb. Harper is quoted in saying, “I kind of wish it hit me in the face, I don’t break bones in my face. I think I can take 98 (mph) to the face, but not 97 to the thumb. Yeah, I was kind of in protection mode a little bit trying to get my hand up there and not let it hit me again. It’s just a bummer. I am really bummed out.” Harper was in the midst of a great season, hitting .318 with 15 homeruns, 48 RBI, 49 runs and a .985 OPS. However, even without their MVP, the team has done well, going 27-17 since his injury. The Phillies will also be expecting back Kyle Schwarber on Friday, who leads the NL with 34 homers.
