The Denver Broncos made a bold and savvy move on Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting Texas standout Jahdae Barron with the 20th overall pick. The pick, held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is already drawing praise across the league for its value and fit.
Viewed by many scouts as a top-10 talent, Barron brings elite speed (4.39 40-yard dash), physicality, and versatility to a Broncos secondary that already boasts Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II. He’s known for his ability to line up just about anywhere—slot, boundary, safety, and even as a dime linebacker.
“Wherever they need me, I’m ready,” Barron said Thursday night.
With eight interceptions and three fumble recoveries in the past three seasons, Barron’s playmaking instincts are exactly what defensive coordinator Vance Joseph thrives on. He’s expected to be a starter from Day 1, with his ability to contribute in multiple formations giving Denver one of the deepest secondaries in the NFL.
Up next? General manager George Paton hinted at targeting a running back on Day 2, with multiple picks still in hand—including No. 51 and 85. Denver isn’t done making noise just yet.
