Capes aren’t groundbreaking in the wedding world, but the new renditions of them this season were innovative, fresh and ready to make an impact.
Luminary wedding dress designers like Elie Saab Bridal, Christian Dior Haute Couture, Berta Bridal, Savannah Miller Bridal, and Sandra Mansour all offered twists on the old classic.
Be it a sheer covering embellished with embroidery, a cocktail cape covered in ruffles, an unadorned coverlet, a blazer with peplum or a full-length option that could sub in for an adorned veil (all on display at Laura Riera’s show at this year’s Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week), the wedding cape levels up a minimal silhouette, or ups the ante on an already stunning ensemble.
Whether or not your gown has sleeves, this is still the chicest way to cover up and make a fashion statement, whether it be when you walk down the aisle or at the reception.
