In a recent interview with MOJO magazine, Queen guitarist Brian May revealed that the band might release new material, marking their first original music in nearly 30 years. May stated, “I think it could happen,” emphasizing that both he and drummer Roger Taylor are continually writing and developing ideas in their studios. He added, “I could have the beginnings of a Queen song right there in front of me now. It’s just whether the idea reaches maturity or not.”
Queen’s last studio album, Made in Heaven, was released in 1995, featuring posthumous vocals from iconic frontman Freddie Mercury, who passed away in 1991. Since 2011, the band has been performing live with Adam Lambert as their lead vocalist, introducing their classic hits to new audiences worldwide.
The prospect of new Queen music has been a topic of discussion among the band members. In a 2024 interview with Uncut magazine, Roger Taylor mentioned that he and May had considered creating new material, stating, “If we feel we have some good material, why not? We can still play. We can still sing. So I don’t see why not.”
In 2022, Queen released “Face It Alone,” a previously unheard track featuring Mercury’s vocals, which had been rediscovered and restored. This release was met with enthusiasm from fans, fueling hopes for more unreleased or new material.
While no official announcements have been made, May’s recent comments suggest that the legendary band remains open to adding new chapters to their storied legacy.
