Bon Jovi Slated for ‘Rise Up New York!’ Benefit

It has been announced that on Monday, May 11th, 7 p.m. ET , Tina Fey will host Rise Up New York!, a citywide virtual telethon to raise awareness and funds to help New Yorkers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This event will feature a lineup of some of the city’s biggest musicians, actors, comedians, chefs and other celebs.

The event was organized by New York’s largest poverty-fighting organization, Robin Hood. “New York City is at the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. This crisis has created a whole new set of challenges for the millions of New Yorkers who already struggled to make ends meet,” said Robin Hood CEO Wes Moore in a statement. “This is a moment where we must all come together and rise up together as a community in support of our neighbors and in support of one another.”

The goal is to raise funds for Robin Hood’s relief efforts, with 100 percent of the donations going to provide food, shelter, cash assistance, health and mental health, legal services and educational support for the city’s most vulnerable during the coronavirus outbreak.

With more artist announcements well under way, Sting, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and Mariah Carey are slated to perform at the one-hour event.

Rise Up New York! will be aired on all New York City TV stations, News 12, Spectrum News NY1 and nationally on CNBC.
