International Bluegrass Association Hall of Fame banjo player J.D. Crowe passed away over Christmas weekend after being hospitalized with pneumonia.
Crowe reportedly died in his home in Nicholasville, KY. He had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for several years.
While Crowe’s farewell tour took place in 2012, he did play an occasional concert in the years that followed.
The bluegrass legend was 84 years old, and he is survived by his wife Sheryl, and their two kids, David and Stacey, as well as one granddaughter.
