The legal standoff between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has intensified once again, this time centering on Lively’s emotional distress claims in her lawsuit against the It Ends With Us director and his Wayfarer Studios team.
In the latest round of filings, Lively reportedly offered to drop her 10th and 11th causes of action—intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress—after refusing to provide medical records requested by Baldoni’s legal team. But the director’s lawyers aren’t letting go so easily. In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman, Baldoni’s attorney argued that if Lively withdraws the claims, it must be done with prejudice—meaning they cannot be refiled later.
Lively’s attorneys pushed back, accusing Baldoni’s team of staging a media stunt rather than following normal litigation procedure. They insist Lively still alleges emotional distress under her broader claims of harassment and retaliation, and that her streamlining efforts are part of routine trial prep—not retreat.
The $400 million lawsuit is set to go to trial in March 2026, but with each filing, the courtroom drama continues to rival the film it’s centered around.
