Billy Strings seems to be everywhere these days, and now he’s teamed up with alt-country icon Margo Price on her latest release, “Too Stoned To Cry.” This new track marks a shift for Price, as she moves from her usual psychedelic country-rock into a more traditional country sound, which has been well-received.
Margo Price shared her excitement about the collaboration, saying, “Working with Billy was a real joy. He absolutely nailed the vocals and brought a beautiful lead guitar. I’ve wanted to record this song ever since I heard Andrew Combs perform it.”
The track was produced by her longtime collaborator Beau Bedford, who assembled a stellar band for the recording. Price’s husband, Jeremy Ivey, played acoustic guitar, alongside Aksel Coe on drums, Misa Arriaga on bass, Russ Pahl on pedal steel, and Joey McClellan on electric guitar. Once Billy Strings added his signature guitar work and harmonies, the song truly came together, solidifying it as a standout in Price’s evolving catalog.
