The race for bluegrass music’s biggest honors is officially underway as the International Bluegrass Music Association has unveiled the nominees for the 2026 IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards.
Leading this year’s conversation are several of the genre’s most recognizable names. Del McCoury, Alison Krauss, and Billy Strings each earned multiple nominations, reinforcing their lasting influence on modern bluegrass while highlighting the depth of talent across the industry.
The coveted Entertainer of the Year category features an impressive lineup that includes Billy Strings, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Sister Sadie, East Nash Grass, and The Del McCoury Band. The nominees reflect both longtime bluegrass icons and newer acts helping shape the genre’s future.
Competition remains equally strong in the group’s, vocal, and instrumental categories, with artists such as Authentic Unlimited, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, The Travelin’ McCourys, Appalachian Road Show, and Red Camel Collective earning recognition for their recent work.
Individual honors also spotlight many of bluegrass’s top performers. Sierra Hull, Trey Hensley, Dan Tyminski, Michael Cleveland, Ronnie McCoury, Molly Tuttle, and Jerry Douglas are among the musicians nominated for excellence on their respective instruments or for vocal performances.
Beyond the awards competition, the IBMA also announced its 2026 Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame class. This year’s inductees are Byron Berline, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Barry Lyle Poss, and The Lost & Found, honoring decades of contributions to the growth and preservation of bluegrass music.
The winners will be announced during the 37th Annual IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards on October 22 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the bluegrass community will gather to celebrate another year of outstanding performances, recordings, and achievements.
