Billie Eilish Opens Up at Variety’s Power of Women Event

At Variety’s Power of Women event, Billie Eilish, 21, delivered an emotional and introspective speech, attributing her heightened emotions to the steroid Prednisone, taken for vocal issues. The Grammy-nominated singer was deeply moved by the introduction from ‘Barbie’ star Ariana Greenblatt, who praised Eilish’s song “What Was I Made For?” from the movie’s soundtrack.

Greenblatt shared her admiration for Eilish, highlighting the song’s deep resonance and the formation of their cherished friendship. Eilish, in response, humbly shifted the focus from herself, expressing a desire to use her platform to amplify others more knowledgeable.

Reflecting on her journey in the entertainment industry, Eilish candidly discussed the challenges of starting young and the complexities of womanhood. She admitted to grappling with internalized misogyny and emphasized her growing pride and gratitude in being a woman. This revelation aligns with her earlier statements about her gender identity and attraction.

Eilish was also recognized for her work with Support + Feed, a plant-based food initiative founded by her mother. Despite vocal hurdles, she delivered a poignant performance of her soundtrack song alongside her brother and collaborator, Finneas, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
