According to patch.com, Keira Seidman of Bensalem, PA is showing how Girl Power can make a difference in a community. The Bensalem High School junior has achieved over 200 hours of volunteering as a counselor in training at the Silver Lake Nature Center summer camp, assistant coach for Bucks County Girls Softball League clinics, and as a student leader for the BHS robotics middle school summer program, all over the course of the past year.
She is being honored for her community service by YWCA Bucks County at their 30th Annual Salute to Women Who Make a Difference Gala on October, 27th. Keira will be representing the teen award for “#GirlPower,” while 13 women are being honored for Advocacy & Civic Engagement, Corporate & Social Responsibility, Media & Journalism, Women’s Empowerment, Racial & Social Justice, and Community Engagement, according to the YWCA of Bucks County. The gala is being held on October 27th at Spring Mill Manor and is a major fundraising event for the programs ran by the YWCA of Bucks County, that focuses on empowering women and eliminating racism.
Keira also started a craft business with her younger sister, called STEAMcraft. Their products are do it yourself kits for kids. They also sell artistic home décor and 3D-Printed items. She also managed to make the Principal’s List with straight A’s on top of being on the varsity softball team, robotics team, Mathletes team, and teaches others how to play in the Chess Club. She is also in the National Honor Society and received a 1st place award in the regional Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition, sending her to the state finals at Penn State University. If all of that wasn’t enough, Keira was also accepted into the “Exelon Foundation STEM Leadership Academy” at Drexel University, a selective summer program that fosters interest in STEM fields for young women.
