The Beach Boys are stepping away from the stage for the remainder of the summer after announcing the cancellation or postponement of nearly 30 tour dates across the United States and Canada.
The legendary group’s current Endless Summer Gold Tour will now pause through early September, with performances expected to resume later in the month. In a message to fans, frontman Mike Love said the band is taking a brief break to recharge after a busy stretch of concerts.
The affected shows include a mix of canceled performances and dates that have already been rescheduled. Fans holding tickets for postponed concerts will be able to use their existing tickets for the new dates, while refunds will be available for events that have been canceled outright through the individual venues.
The tour has carried added significance as it marks both America’s 250th anniversary celebration and the 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds, one of the most influential albums in popular music history.
Although the band’s statement focused on taking time off before returning to the road, the announcement has prompted questions from longtime fans due to recent concerns surrounding Love’s health. The group has not offered any additional explanation beyond the decision to take a break.
The Beach Boys remain scheduled to resume touring in late September with performances extending into the fall, continuing a career that has entertained audiences for more than six decades.
