Barbra Streisand Unites Generations of Voices in New Duets Album ‘The Secret of Life’

Barbra Streisand is returning to the duet format in grand fashion with her new album The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, out June 27. The legendary vocalist brings together a wide-ranging lineup of collaborators from Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney to younger stars like Hozier and Laufey.

The album, a follow-up to her 2014 chart-topping Partners, features 11 tracks, each a reimagined classic or heartfelt ballad. One standout track, “One Heart, One Voice,” showcases a rare trio moment with Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande — a powerhouse blend of three vocal generations.

The lead single, a delicate take on “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” with Hozier, is already drawing acclaim. Hozier praised Streisand’s legacy and called the duet “a huge honor.” Bob Dylan, notoriously selective about collaborations, joins her on “The Very Thought of You,” while McCartney revisits his own “My Valentine” with Streisand.

Streisand expressed her joy in creating the album: “These artists inspired me uniquely… It was a joy to collaborate with such a range of incredible voices.”

Produced by Walter Afanasieff and Peter Asher, and recorded at Abbey Road and Streisand’s personal studio, this collection bridges generations through shared artistry.
