Baker Mayfield wasn’t the starting quarterback going into the Jets game on Thursday night, but he did end up leading his team to a win. After Tyrod Taylor was injured late in the second quarter, Mayfield was given the reigns and he did not disappoint. He completed 17 of 23 passes for 201 yards and caught a two-point conversion, leading the team to 21 points in a little over one half of football.
The Jets looked good last night, but once halftime hit they were completely stifled. Sam Darnold, who played the entire game for the Jets, only threw for 169 yards and had two big interceptions on the night.
Carlos Hyde may have been the unsung hero of the night, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for just under 100 yards on the ground. Baker’s energy and ability to move the football up and down the field has everyone talking about him rather than Hyde.
