The Backstreet Boys are officially back on stage, with a Las Vegas Sphere residency lined up for this summer. But while the ‘90s and ‘00s pop icons are ready to bring nostalgia to their fans, one member’s son is carving out his own musical path—and he just landed on American Idol!
Like Father, Like Son—Sort Of
Baylee Littrell, son of Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell, took to the American Idol stage with an original song. But unlike his father’s pop-stadium anthems, Baylee leans country—a style he confidently showcased by accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. At just 21, the Georgia-based college student is already making waves in the music industry, and his audition impressed all three judges.
Judge Luke Bryan, a country star himself, was clearly taken with Baylee’s talent. So much so that he pulled a surprise move—he called Brian Littrell into the room to sing harmonies with his son. If you’ve ever wanted to see a boy band legend bursting with fatherly pride, this was the moment.
A Family Rooted in Music
Baylee is no stranger to performing. He once opened for the Backstreet Boys at a massive arena show, proving that music runs deep in the Littrell family. The only child of Brian and Leighanne Littrell, Baylee has also joined his family on Christmas albums—but now, he’s stepping into the spotlight on his own terms.
A Backstreet Boys Fan? Not So Much
During the audition, Idol judge Luke Bryan made a cheeky confession: he didn’t have Backstreet Boys posters on his walls growing up. Fellow judge Carrie Underwood, however, likely had a different experience! Fans everywhere were probably singing, Tell me whyyyyy! at the missed opportunity.
As Baylee Littrell moves forward in the competition, one thing is clear—he’s ready to make his own name in music. With a famous last name and a fresh country sound, American Idol might just be his first step toward stardom.
