According to walkoffame.com, Avril Lavigne will be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It will be the 2,731st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and will be dedicated to Lavigne on August 31st, at 11:30 a.m.. According to a statement made by Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, “This isn’t Complicated, Avril Lavigne is very deserving of this Walk of Fame star and we are thrilled to be honoring her with this great honor. Avril’s fans have been blowing up my phone asking when she will be getting her star. We are thrilled to say that the time is now!” The emcee for the event will be Lupita Sanchez Cornejo along with Machine Gun Kelly and others.
Avril Lavigne has sold 40 million albums worldwide, selling 12.5 million units in the U.S. alone. She has also gathered eight GRAMMY Award Nominations in categories such as Best New Artist and Song of the Year two times. She has also been given eight Juno Awards, including receiving artist of the year. Lavigne has earned a spot in the Top 10 of Billboard’s “Best of the 2000’s” chart and also has a Guinness World Record for being, “the youngest female solo artist to top the UK chart.” Her music video for song “Girlfriend” also was the first music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube. More recently, Avril celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album with an Anniversary Edition that included 6 bonus tracks. She is also currently touring throughout 2022, starting with her own Canadian headline tour that was followed by her American tour with co-headliner Machine Gun Kelly, and ending it with her Love Sux Japan tour.
