Avalanche Win First Stanley Cup in 21 Years

According to Yahoo Sports, The Colorado Avalanche have officially ended the Tampa Bay Lightning’s rule in the NHL. Winning only their third championship trophy, and their first in over 21 years, the Avalanche secured a victory over the defending champions in game six of the Stanley Cup Finals on Sunday Night at Amalie Arena. Nathan MacKinnon was responsible for one of two goals in the win, with Artturi Lekonen sticking to his theme of living up to big moments, converted a go ahead goal and eventual game winning goal just over the halfway mark of the second period. On top of being a Stanley Cup Winner, Cale Makar of the Avalanche was named the Conn Smythe Trophy Winner as the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup Finals. Securing 29 points in 20 games, including seven points in the Stanley Cup Final Alone. Makar is the youngest player to receive the award since Johnathon Toews received it.
