Autopsy Reveals Aaron Carter’s Tragic Cause of Death

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has determined that Aaron Carter drowned to death. The autopsy report listed the “effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam” as contributing factors in his death. The report also ruled his death as an accident. Carter was found submerged in the bathtub of his Lancaster residence by his reported housekeeper on November 5, 2022, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carter publicly struggled with addiction and mental health issues throughout his life, including huffing, the practice of inhaling fumes from household items. His sister, Leslie, died from an overdose in 2012, and he admitted she introduced him to huffing. In a 2019 interview on “The Doctors,” Carter revealed his multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety, and manic depression diagnosis. He was prescribed several medications, including alprazolam, also known as Xanax.

Carter’s mother, Jane, shared photos on Facebook last month, urging officials to investigate her son’s death as a possible homicide. She later announced a detective was looking further into his death. Carter is survived by his one-year-old son, Prince, with fiancĂ©e Melanie Martin.
