As we’ve all been “getting back to normal,” our normal lives can get hectic and overwhelming. As a result, your “I’ll get around to it” home maintenance and repair list has probably mushroomed. This list may include leveling that one cabinet so the door shuts properly, re-sealing windows and doors, cleaning out gutters, fixing a leaky faucet, repairing that fence, servicing the HVAC, or finishing a paint job.
If you don’t have the time or the energy (and who can blame you?) to tackle those tasks yourself, hire a pro to come in and take care of all the little things your home needs before the holiday. For example, you could have a handy person take care of:
- Plumbing issues, such as toilets that don’t properly flush or minor leaks under the sink.
- Jagged or otherwise protruding wires, boards, insulation or other things that could snag a favorite shirt or be grabbed by a curious, young hand.
- Re-grouting tile in the kitchen, bathroom or shower area. This makes the bathroom look great and keeps it comfortable for bare feet.
- Repainting the guest room / office / den, etc. A professional painter can get most interior paint jobs done in just two to three days, and the result will be your home having a fresh new look.
- Servicing the HVAC. It may not seem like a big deal, the last thing you need is for your vents to start blowing icy cold air on you inside, when it’s freezing outside. A simple inspection and service is all it takes for peace of mind.
And if you’ve got a growing list of “Honey Do’s” that aren’t getting done, a reliable handyman can get many of those things done in a day. Better to get them done before the little jobs become big nightmares.
