Aretha to be Inducted Into Memphis Music Hall of Fame

It’s hard to believe singing icon Aretha Franklin is gone but will remain with us for the remainder of our lives in the sings she gave us – and the city of Memphis will remember Aretha in a cherished way as she will be inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame November 1st.

We think of Aretha (as we do many Motown artists) as being from Detroit, but she was actually born in Memphis in 1942. Others who will be inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame this year will be O’Landa Draper from the 60s pop group the Box Tops, rockabilly pioneers The Rock and Roll Trio, 8Ball & MJG, and blues and soul singer and performer Eddie Floyd. Others already in the Hall are greats Justin Timberlake, Charlie Rich, Sam and Dave, Al Jackson Jr and Alberta Hunter, ZZ Top, Sam Phillips, obviously Elvis, Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Jerry Lee Lewis, Al Green, Booker T. and the MGs, Big Star.

Did you know that Aretha was the 1st woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987?
