Ann Wilson of the iconic rock duo Heart, along with her sister Nancy Wilson, has announced the cancellation of their 2024 European summer tour. This decision comes as Ann prepares for a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure,” and she wants to assure fans not to worry.
“We regret to inform you that all upcoming Heart performances in Europe are canceled,” the band shared on social media. The tour, which was scheduled to span various countries from June 20 through July 12 with special guest Squeeze, will not proceed as planned.
Heart’s statement elaborated, “In late May, Ann Wilson will undergo a time-sensitive but routine medical procedure for which the minimum recovery time is six weeks.” The band expressed deep regret over the cancellation and hopes to return to Europe soon. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase as applicable.
Ann, 73, took to her personal Instagram to reassure fans, writing, “I’m okay! Please don’t worry.” She added, “I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It’s certainly an inconvenience for me. Love & respect always, Ann.”
This news comes on the heels of Heart wrapping up a series of North American concerts that ran from April 20 through May 24. The band is scheduled to resume touring in the U.S. and Canada from July 30 through December 15.
Ann Wilson recently spoke about her touring stamina during an interview at the 6th annual Women Who Rock Benefit Concert, presented by Gibson Gives. She credited her youthful energy to maintaining a balanced lifestyle, particularly with regard to alcohol. “I’m not 100% sober. Usually, I have a glass of white wine after the show, but that’s all it’s down to now,” she said. “I got a really good handle on it. It’s actually really good and it does help me with stamina and I do a really good warmup.”
While fans may be disappointed by the tour cancellation, Ann’s focus on her health is paramount, and Heart looks forward to rocking the stage again soon.
