Amanda Seyfried On Traumatic Second Birth: “It Didn’t Have To Happen”

In a recent interview, Amanda Seyfriend recounted the traumatic birth of her second child last year. Because of a spinal condition, the actress revealed that “something went wrong with [her] second birth.”

“The baby was okay, but it was tricky and it was painful and it didn’t have to happen,” Seyfried explained of the experience. “It added an extra layer of trauma.”

Now, the Mean Girls star is doing well and is starring in an upcoming drama, A Mouthful Of Air, as a bestselling author living with the struggle of postpartum depression. Seyfried expressed being afraid the condition would affect her own life following both of her pregnancies, but she considers herself “lucky” that she did not end up experiencing it.

“It was hard,” she said. “It was so hard, the struggle, but it wasn’t anything I didn’t think I could handle.”
