Alissa White-Gluz Makes Explosive DragonForce Debut as Marc Hudson Misses Festival Set

DragonForce’s latest chapter officially hit the stage this weekend, and it arrived with both excitement and unexpected complications.

At Welcome To Rockville 2026 in Daytona Beach, Florida, newly announced DragonForce vocalist Alissa White-Gluz made her first live appearance with the British power metal veterans. The performance marked the public debut of one of modern metal’s most talked-about lineup changes, but it also came with a last-minute twist after longtime singer Marc Hudson was forced to sit out due to hearing-related health issues.

Hudson, who has fronted DragonForce since 2011, reportedly missed the show because of ongoing tinnitus and hearing loss concerns. With little time to adjust, White-Gluz stepped into the spotlight and carried the majority of the vocal workload during the band’s festival set. Touring guitarist Billy Wilkins also contributed supporting vocals to help round out the performance.

Fans packed around the stage witnessed a set filled with DragonForce staples, including “Operation Ground And Pound” and the band’s signature speed-metal anthem “Through The Fire And Flames.” Fan-shot videos from the concert quickly circulated online, with many viewers praising White-Gluz’s ability to handle the group’s notoriously demanding material.

The show arrives just days after DragonForce officially confirmed White-Gluz as a new co-vocalist alongside Hudson. The announcement surprised much of the metal community, especially given White-Gluz’s recent departure from Arch Enemy and the launch of her own project, Blue Medusa.

For DragonForce, the timing aligns with a milestone celebration. The band is currently honoring the 20th anniversary of Inhuman Rampage, the 2005 album that helped transform them from underground power metal specialists into global festival favorites. Songs from that era remain central to their live identity, particularly after “Through The Fire And Flames” became a defining track of the Guitar Hero generation.

Guitarist Herman Li has already hinted that White-Gluz’s role may extend far beyond anniversary touring. In recent statements, Li suggested the revamped lineup is actively developing new material, signaling that this may be the beginning of a longer-term evolution for the band rather than a temporary collaboration.

While Hudson’s health situation remains a concern for fans, the Rockville performance demonstrated that DragonForce is prepared to move forward with flexibility and ambition. White-Gluz’s debut delivered a high-pressure test in front of a major festival audience, and by most accounts, she passed at full speed.
