Ace Frehley Reflects on Tensions and Brotherhood with Kiss Bandmates

Ace Frehley, the legendary former guitarist of Kiss, recently opened up about his complex relationship with former bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, amidst a backdrop of public disputes. In a revealing interview with Classic Rock magazine, Frehley discussed the emotional fallout following Stanley’s contentious remarks on Howard Stern’s show, where he joked that Kiss would have to be renamed ‘Piss’ if Frehley and original drummer Peter Criss performed at their farewell gig.

Despite the harsh exchange, where Stanley reportedly refused Frehley’s demand for an apology, Frehley maintains a sense of brotherhood with his former colleagues. He likens their relationship to that of siblings who, despite occasional conflicts and harsh words, ultimately reconcile and move forward. This perspective highlights Frehley’s readiness to mend fences and possibly reconnect in the future, underscoring the deep ties that bind them beyond the music.

Frehley also shared his stance on live performance integrity, critiquing bands that resort to backing tapes and expressing his commitment to delivering authentic, live music experiences. As he gears up for the release of his new solo album, “10,000 Volts,” on February 23, Frehley’s reflections offer a glimpse into the dynamic and sometimes tumultuous world of rock ‘n’ roll relationships, as well as his unwavering dedication to his craft and fans.
