In a Los Angeles courtroom on February 18, 2025, rapper A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The charges stemmed from a November 2021 incident in which he was accused of firing shots at his former friend and A$AP Mob member, A$AP Relli. The jury, comprising seven women and five men, deliberated for approximately three hours before delivering the unanimous verdict.
Upon hearing the verdict, Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, displayed visible relief and gratitude. He immediately embraced his family and partner, Rihanna, who had been present throughout the trial alongside their two young sons. Addressing the jury, Rocky tearfully expressed, “Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision.”
The defense argued that Rocky had fired blanks from a prop gun during the altercation, a claim that the jury ultimately found credible. Had he been convicted, Rocky faced a potential sentence of up to 24 years in prison. The acquittal brings a significant legal battle to a close, allowing the artist to focus on his family and career.
