‘A Star Is Born’ Soundtrack Outpaces Rap Again for Another Week at No. 1

Rap duos like Lil Baby and Gunna and Future and Juice WRLD are dominating streaming services. But they’ve been no match for the hottest musical pair of the moment: Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

The soundtrack to the remade “A Star Is Born” — starring Lady Gaga as the ascendant pop star Ally and Cooper as the country-rocker-in-decline Jackson Maine — tops the Billboard chart for a third consecutive week, earning another 109,000 album equivalent units. That total includes 61,000 in traditional sales (physical and digital) and 43 million track streams, according to Nielsen Music, giving the album another healthy six-digit sum. (The film also held onto the No. 2 spot at the box office, raking in another $14.1 million in its fourth weekend.)

“A Star Is Born” is the first soundtrack to spend its first three weeks at No. 1 since “High School Musical 2” more than a decade ago, Billboard reported. (“Bad Boys II,” from 2003, was the last theatrical release to have the same musical success out of the gate.)
