The next few months will bring a host of Awards shows. Country, Grammy, Oscars and more will honor deserving artists, actors, and entertainers.
The 2017 Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place February 12, hosted by James Corden. Sly Stone will be given a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the ceremony, along with Shirley Caesar, pianist Ahmad Jamal, and country singers Charley Pride and Jimmie Rodgers.
Sly Stone will turn 73 this year, and is fitting of such an honor. Sly and the Family Stone, the band, combined soul, rock, and funk in creating a lasting legacy of great songs from the 60s and 70s. Sly and the Family Stone released 13 albums, had numerous number one hits, and sold nearly 75 million records during their storied career.
In addition to the upcoming awards event in February, the Grammy association will release a coveted book called ‘A Grammy Salute To Music Legends,’ honoring two decades of artists with special tributes to those receiving the Special Merit Award.
