A Once Highly Sought After QB Recruit Has Been Transferred to his Fourth School

Recruit Quarterback, J.T. Daniels has reportedly been sent to his fourth collegiate team, after playing ten games for West Virginia last season, he will transfer to Rice to finish out his time in college football. The Owls ended last season five and eight and finished the year with a 38-24 loss to Southern Miss in the LendingTree Bowl. Rice averaged 87th in the nation out of 131 schools with 25.2 points per game. Daniels was very interested in the offensive style of head coach Mike Bloomgren and offensive coordinator Marques Tuiasosopo.

In the past Daniels was the national high school player of the year before joining USC his freshman year in 2018 where he played 11 games and had 2,672 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes. He aended up tearing his ACL at the start of the 2019 season and was replaced as the starter by Kedon Slovis before entering the transfer portal. Daniels found himself at Georgia in 2020 and worked his way up to becoming the starter. He started the 2021 season as the starting quarterback, but another injury left him out and had Stetson Bennet thrown into the role. Daniels played once more for them that season before being transferred again to West Virginia last season. Daniels had 2,107 passing yard and 13 touchdown passes over the course of ten games and the Mountaineers finished 5-7. Rice is expected to have a recruiting class that is projected to be one of the top in school history and the team will start the 2023 season against Texas.
