A federal judge in New York has put the brakes on the Artimus Pyle/Cleopatra Entertainment movie dealing with Lynyrd Skynyrd last week. We all know that Steve Gaines, his sister, and Ronnie Van Zandt were the fatalities of the tragic 1977 plane crash.
Evidentially the band had an agreement signed by all remaining living members regarding how the use of the name of the band and or tragic plane crash; in essence Artius needed the written approval of the remaining members and estate representatives. In documents Artimus signed years ago, they agreed that they could tell their own stories in books of films, but not stories related to the band and or tragedy.
Did you know that the next LP to be released by the band, ‘Street Survivors’ had the members of the band engulfed in flames? The record company quickly changed the cover art out of respect.
