It’s true that not much changes when it comes to fall trends: we still all love the cozy, earthy colors that reflect nature, and the natural textures that are the perfect companion to these tones. However, there are always new fall trends to intrigue.
As Homes and Gardens reports, interior design trends emerge to meet the demands we are making of our homes, fall decor ideas and design trends in 2023 are looking towards creating a cozy, warm home for friends and family to gather and relax together.
Here’s a trend for this year: Wall to Ceiling Color.
Matching your ceiling color to your walls, especially if they are a warm, cozy shade, will enhance a room’s coziness by creating the appearance of a lowered ceiling, which can be particularly important in fall when airy rooms can suddenly feel cold.
Color drenching the room with fall colors, says Justyna Korczynska, senior designer at Crown Paints, can also be used to correct a room’s proportions: ‘With high ceilings you can put a darker color at the top to visually lower the height of the room.’
Using a deep color on your ceiling is one of the staple ceiling paint ideas to create a snug atmosphere, and if you use terracotta decor, as in the space above, you can double the impact. “Terracotta allows you to create a space offering a soft, warm light which captures the enveloping sensation of a sunset,” says Damien Langlois-Meurinne, interior designer and founder of Damien Langlois-Meurinne Studio Paris.
Also, hanging long drapes to line the walls is a layering trick that boosts the feeling of warmth in a room, and is a key way interior designers add color and texture to a room in fall.
