Metallica Dabbles in Fashion with New Collection

On Wednesday, October 23rd, the fashion world got a dose of heavy metal. Iconic rock band Metallica has announced its partnership with Billabong LAB for merchandise inspired by five of their albums.

“This collaboration comes through Billabong LAB, a division that supports artists, musicians, designers, photographers,” the site says. The website also features a brief clip that goes behind the scenes of the pairing, with the band members and professional surfers comparing a performance’s energy to the adrenaline rush of the waves.

The first surfwear collection draws influence from the band’s 1991 self-titled album (also popularly referred to as The Black Album). Featuring board shorts, a T-shirt, a jacket and wetsuit, they’re are all emblazoned with Metallica’s iconic logo and ready for the gnarliest waves. “Released in the summer of 1991, the instant classic simply titled Metallica didn’t need any introduction. They had already arrived,” Billabong’s official website explains.

It has been reported that the collection will be revealed in small amounts every month till we reach March 2020.
