When it comes to Fall Footwear, it’s Hip to Be Square

It’s hip to be square this season, because every designer is cashing in on this shape of shoe. This ’90s style has popped up now and again over the years, but the newest versions are somehow… squarer.

Leading the pack is Bottega Veneta under the new creative vision of Daniel Lee. His first collection of accessories is an Influencer’s dream that’s all over social media. Not only is “New Bottega’s” pouch clutch a hot commodity and a future classic, their razor sharp shoes are quickly amassing a cult-following. If you can’t get your hands on the one that’s selling out everywhere – Bottega’s $890 mesh pump with an attached gold anklet (available at bottegaveneta.com) — brands high and low are also participating in the trend.

If you’re on a budget, look for Topshop’s affordable square-toe sandal (topshop.com), the Chrissy Square Toe Heel from Urban Outfitters (urbanoutfitters.com), and YDN’s Low Kitten Heel available at amazon.com ($80, $20, and $30, respectively).

If price isn’t a problem, try on the bright mustard heeled thong from indie accessories brand Neous, Tweed Sandals from Brock Collection (($440 and $770 respectively, both available at modaoperandi.com), or a Square Toe Flat from Jill Sander ($690 farfetch.com).

But if you really want a show-stopper, look no further than Balenciaga.  The fashion house has been on the square-toe bandwagon for quite awhile.  Choose from the Typo Shiny Leather ankle boots with the silver architectural heel ($1,190 bergdorfgoodman.com or saksfifthavenue.com) or the Square Toe BB Logo Monogram boots with a front edge so sharp it could cut through butter ($1,400 poshmark.com).  Square up to the hottest shoe of the year.
