Several marquee NBA and WNBA stars were part of Monday’s championship-worthy grand opening celebration of NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort.
Dwyane Wade, Grant Hill, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Aaron Gordon, Swin Cash, Brook Lopez, Mike Conley, Victor Oladipo and Udonis Haslem were among the current and former NBA and WNBA players joining Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver for the debut of this first-of-its-kind venue at Disney Springs. The grand opening moment featured Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, confetti, high-energy music, a fan-cam and more.
After the festive ceremony, players and their families and friends got in on the fun, participating in some of the family-friendly basketball activities inside the venue along with players from the Jr. NBA Global Championship held over the weekend at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
NBA Experience features 13 immersive basketball-related activities that offer interactive fun for kids and adults. The venue mirrors many of the experiences of real NBA and WNBA players, such as being selected during the NBA Draft, making highlight-worthy dunks and taking the last shot to win the big game. There are also opportunities to learn more about NBA and WNBA history via interactive displays. The adjacent NBA Store is stocked with official NBA and WNBA apparel, collectables and more, plus basketball-themed Disney merchandise designed specifically for NBA Experience.
