Women’s AND Men’s Street Style at Paris Couture Week

Move over, leopard print. According to the street style crowd at Couture Week Fall 2019 in Paris, it looks like polka dots are trying to win back the top spot for women’s fashion’s favorite spotty motif.

While some of the top luxury houses, from Chanel and Valentino to Givenchy and Dior, debuted their latest haute couture creations, it was hard to miss that showgoers took on plenty of different takes on the classic polka-dot print, including colorful party-ready frocks and more summer-friendly, all-white midi and maxi dresses. Though most of these ensembles were dressed up with heels — it’s couture week, after all — some folks took a more casual approach with a fresh pair of sneakers, which goes to show just how versatile this classic and beloved print can be.

Meanwhile, over in the men’s arena, it looks like they’ve gone from baring chests in Milan to baring legs in Paris.

As Paris Fashion Week Men’s came to a close on Sunday, it was clear that the street style crowd were all about those legs. Loose, sporty shorts were a popular choice for showgoers, and they came dressed up, down or a little bit in between. Take, for example, one particular menswear dandy, who paired an oversize button-down with simple black shorts and a pair of polished dress shoes, while another went full-on casual, with a Nike T-shirt, matching shorts and Vans. Whatever aesthetic you prefer, chances are it’ll be a good choice for the summer. Perhaps these comfy shorts are menswear’s answer to the ubiquitous biker short?

Attention all you fashionista men out there: please, PLEASE, don’t start a biker short trend.  Just don’t.  Thanks in advance.
