Frequently behind the wheel of her twelve-passenger van, Tiffany Rivers, wife of veteran NFL Quarterback Philip Rivers, is expecting two new arrivals. The unstoppable mom of eight, with baby #9 on the way, is not only adding to the Rivers nest, but launching the new swimwear company, Hermoza. The new brand will fill the market gap between ill-fitting, conservative bathing suits and barely there bikinis with modest, chic swimwear choices, featuring one-pieces, tankinis and sophisticated resort wear.
For the eight Rivers kids, whether on the sidelines watching their NFL quarterback dad – who has passed for over 4,000 yards in eight of the last nine seasons, and thrown over 20 touchdown passes in every season – to seeing their mom launch a company from the ground up, life is anything but typical.
Tiffany Rivers and longtime friend, Marisa (Mimi) De Lecce, were inspired to launch Hermoza after shopping for well-made, stylish yet conservative, bathing suits that didn’t exist. When the Southern California friends shared their experiences with other women, they received so much positive feedback that they knew they had a big idea – there was a real need for beautiful swimwear designs that showed less skin.
Launching March 1st, the Hermoza line merges Rivers’ southern roots with the classic Spanish culture of co-founder, De Lecce, resulting in unique pieces that are each distinctive with feminine charm. The company’s name, Hermoza, is derived from the Spanish word Hermosa, meaning “beautiful” and the collection infuses Latin-influenced prints with vibrant colors, bold designs and chic, sophisticated elegance.
“One of the things I have learned, both from my husband’s career in the NFL and having a large family, is the value of teamwork,” continues Rivers. “Mimi and I divide and conquer. We knew we had a big idea. When we identified the gap in the swimwear market and we had to go for it. If my six daughters, and other women and girls, can go swimsuit shopping and find more refined options that they feel comfortable wearing, we’ve made a difference for generations of women to come.”
