Beck paid tribute to the beloved SpongeBob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg this week after the animator died at age 57 following a long fight against ALS. Among those honoring Hillenburg was Beck, who shared a loving Facebook post describing his relationship with the man who happened to be his neighbor at one point.
“I always remembered him as a genuinely sweet guy,” the singer said, also including a picture of Hillenburg’s old apartment. “I was lucky to get to run into him by chance at the airport a few months ago. Sending my condolences to his family and to all the friends who are missing him today and thinking about old times.” Read the touching tribute here.
