This Day in Music History – November 20th

1987 – “Sign ‘O’ The Times,” Prince’s third movie, opened.

1991 – Randy Jackson was sentenced in Los Angeles to a month in jail for violating probation related to charges of beating his wife in the previous January.

1994 – David Crosby got a liver transplant.

1995 – A new Beatles recording, “Free As a Bird,” began airing on radio stations. The song had debuted on ABC-TV the night before.

1997 – Kenny G. received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

1998 – Alanis Morissette did an in store performance for the opening of a Tower records store in Buenos Aires. The proceeds from the sale of her album for the day were donated to a local children’s hospital.

1998 – A three-day World Conference on Music and Censorship began in Copenhagen.

2001 – KISS released The Box Set. The set included 92 tracks.

2015 – The Grateful Dead concert video “Fare Thee Well” was released in the U.S.
