Although the Emmy celebration for 2018 isn’t until next Sunday, September 17th, the Emmy committee held the first of two Creative Arts Emmy Awards, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Thought as the first dish of the overall Emmy ceremony, the awards were handed out in the artistic and technical categories. The HBO platform walked away with a total of 13 awards, followed by Netflix with 10, and the FX Networks earning seven.
Tiffany Haddish won an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, celebrating her work in her guest hosting Saturday Night Live in November, and actor and comedian James Corden won two Emmy’s.
The show Games of Thrones earned seven Emmy’s for various categories, including production design and sound mixing, makeup, stunt coordination, fantasy/sci-fi costumes, special visual effects, music composition
Other shows that earned Emmys won ‘The Crown,’ ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ ‘The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story won four,’ ‘Atlanta,’ ‘USS Callister’ (Black Mirror) and ‘Westworld.’
The real live broadcast of the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards is next Sunday, September 17th on NBC, hosted by Michael Che and Colin Jost of Saturday Night Live fame.
