Music in the 60s and 70s ranged from the Beatles, Carpenters, ZZ Top to Pink Floyd. One American Canadian blended band that seemed to stay in vogue was simply called ‘The Band’ starring Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, Robbie Robertson, and the late Levon Helm. In 1968 the Band blew the doors off local FM radio stations with the release of an album called ‘Music From Big Pink.’
The Band will help celebrate the 50th birthday of ‘Music From Big Pink’ by reissuing the LP in stereo and remastered versions, designed to breathe new life into each and every song. This is the LP that brought us the classic song “The Weight.” The box set also includes a hardbound companion piece, filled with rare photographs and prints of handwritten lyrics and more. ‘Music From Big Pink’ drops at the end of August, and can be purchased in CD, Blu-ray, vinyl and on digital platforms.
