The Houston Rockets were among the league’s best last year, but they ran into the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals and couldn’t take them down. This offseason they’ve been looking to find the missing pieces needed to beat the Warriors and just these last few days a lot has happened to their roster.
We’ll get to their big target and likely signee in a second, but it’s worth noting that they’ll be without Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute, both forwards who played quality minutes and/or started last season. Together, the two of them averaged about 19 points per game during the 2017-2018 season.
The big target they’re going after is Carmelo Anthony. He opted in for his final year with the Thunder, but there are rumors that the team will waive and stretch the nearly $28 million owed to him making him available to other teams and saving themselves a ton of money. The Rockets are going to need some help to beat the Warriors and they’re willing to get creative to do so it looks like.
