Legendary actor Bruce Willis has signed on to play a different role, one that is close to his heart, but not typical in the choice of script. Bruce will portray boxing trainer Cus D’Amato in the new drama “Cornerman,” a film that shows how a rising boxing trainer discovered Mike Tyson.
“Homeland” star Rupert Friend will make his directorial debut for the film, and word on the street is he’s very capable and eager to show peer his depth of talent. The project “Cornerman” is based on real events in the 1980’s, within New York, detailing the career patch of trainer Cus D’Amato who began with local talent, ending up training boxing’s biggest stars. Along the way, the trainer discovers a 13-year-old Tyson. The cast has yet to be assembled past the singing of Willis and director Friend, but the locations are now being scouted with filming to begin this fall, a release projected for Spring 2019.
