Jon Bon Jovi is sitting just outside the To 10 this week with a single called “When We Were Us” and it’s the icing on this cake for this Jew Jersey boy. 2018 has been a stellar year for Jon Bon Jovi, being enshrined a few weeks ago as a new member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His greatest achievement may not be the arrival, rather the journey to the hall. Here are a few more Jon Bon Jovi life moments to ponder….
Jon’s cousin owned a recording studio and Jon worked there. His first professional recording was that of a Christmas song to R2 D2 called “R2 – D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Although Jon doesn’t like being away from his home, is early days forced him to spends months away, opening for acts like Scorpions, Kiss and Judas Priest.
Jon’s early hit, “Runaway,” was recorded with a pick up band (his band had yet to be formed) although there were a few of the final original members of that band in this one for the “Runaway” single.
The original name of the band was going to be Johnny Electric, but they changed it. Another good decision was keeping the song “You Give Love a Band Name” in that they were going to give it to the band Loverboy, but Richie Sambora talked Jon out of jut giving it away and recording it themselves. Smart decision…
