The MC5 is Back With “Kick Out the Jams” Release and Memoir

If you grew up in the 60s you’ll remember the MC5, and a song that was briefly played called “Kick Out the Jams” for one significant reason; the original version (often played on pirate and rogue FM radio stations) had a curse word in the title. The MC5 were one of the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, but did not receive enough votes to enter.

Now, MC5 founder and native Detroiter Wayne Kramer is celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary by releasing an LP called Kick Out the Jams,” writing a memoir, and going out on the road touring this summer. “Kick Out the Jams,” the album, was recorded from live concerts in two nights from 1968.

Wayne Kramer and his new band MC50 is expected to release a touring schedule within the next few weeks.
