Jimmy Buffett and Cher are Broadway-bound, and it’s going to be magic for fans everywhere. Jimmy’s ‘Escape to Margaritaville,’ opened last night at the Marquis Theatre in New York City to standing room only, featuring his best work; “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” “Margaritaville,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” “Fins,” and of course “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes” were part of the sounds of the performance. The storyline is vintage Jimmy, the trials, and tribulations of a transplanted bartender/singer working in a Caribbean resort.
Although she won’t be in the show, music legend Cher is the star of The Cher Show’ a story based on the life and times of Cher. The production is nearly finished in rehearsal, making its debut in Chicago at the Oriental Theater June 12th, then moving to Broadway in the fall. Legendary fashion designer and friend Bob Mackie has done all the costumes for the production.
