Tom Petty’s wife called EMS in early October after finding her husband Tom unresponsive; he would eventually die on October 2nd, 2017 from what doctors believed to be a cardiac arrest. There’s a problem with that conclusion, as Tom’s autopsy reveals he died from an accidental drug overdose. The ME’s report indicates that Tom’s organs shut down due the body’s reaction to mixed drug toxicity, then a cardiac arrest that placed Tom in a coma.
Tom’s autopsy revealed the following drugs; Oxycontin, temazepam, Fentanyl, and despropionyl fentanyl. A few of the drugs were being prescribed for emphysema and other physical issues, but the number of drugs and variety of such played a dominant role in Tom Petty’s death.
Tom’s 35 old year daughter Annakim went to social to dispute rumors that her father was a drug addict, a claim she denies with all her heart. Tom was 66 when he died in October of 2017.
