Although the 60th Grammy celebration doesn’t until Sunday, January 28th on CBS, we thought we’d take a sneak peek at the ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’ category, looking at this year’s nominees…
“Love So Soft” from Kelly Clarkson is an interesting tune from her 8th solo LP, featuring the legendary Earth Wind and Fire on the score. The song is a soulful adventure for Kelly.
“Praying” by Kesha is from the LP ‘Rainbow’ her third album. The tune debuted high on the charts with strong sales; nearly 500,000 copies since its release in early July 2017.
“Million Reasons” sung and co-written by Lady Gaga, debuted on the charts in November of 2016 and has been streamed nearly 30 million times.
“What About Us: from P!nk from her ‘Beautiful Trauma’ album, hitting number one on seven different world music charts, as well as the US and Canada. This song is the dark horse for the win in this category.
“Shape Of You” by Ed Sheeran hit number one on over 40 world music charts, stayed on the US charts for a record number of weeks. The song was named the Best Performing Song of 2017, and was the number one most streamed song of 2017 (over one billion) and is the odds-on favorite to win the Grammy in this category.
